In the spring of 2009, my partner-in-crime, Kyle Timlin, and I showed up at the chic hotel where Andrew Fletcher (co-founder of Depeche Mode) was staying, in Manhattan. We were invited upstairs to his temporary abode, which happened to also be Johnny Depp's favorite room. We all sat down in the living room as Andy discussed Depeche Mode of today, their latest album at the time, Sounds of the Universe, and the early days of his influential band.
